I am truly a South African by birth but have spent a large portion of my life on this earth living in Scotland. Edinburgh to be exact. So does that make me a Scottish-African or an African Scot? 🙂 It was with a heavy heart in 2009 that my family and I decided that for now our time in Scotland had come to an end and that we were moving to South Africa.
Before we left we took a quick weekend trip to the Isle of Skye where we stayed in the Dun Flodigarry Backpackers Hostel. Apart from having an awesome view it has one of the most amazingly Scottish kitchens I have ever seen. Now if you’re wondering about what a Scottish kitchen might look like then leave a comment for me and I’ll share that info by means of a…photograph (or you can poke around here if your curiosity gets the better of you!) I can also wholeheartedly recommend this as an authentic Scottish hosteling experience!
Although this isn’t the view from right in front of the hostel, this photo was taken from just a couple of hundred metres down the road. This is Skye Typicale!
Oh what a beautiful spot… I think I need to go there, wonderful!!!
You wouldn’t be sorry that you did! The Isle of Skye is a mini version of the Scottish Highlands. So if you’re pushed for time a couple of days on Skye will blow your imagination out of the water!
