We recently had a red tide in Gordon’s Bay which turned the water in the marina where we live a dark brown colour. I believe that when a red tide is at it’s worst it does turn red but ours was just a yucky brown. Anyway, I went out to take some photos of this strange phenomenon and came back with something I didn’t expect.
Taking the advice of many a photographer that has gone before, I headed out at the golden hour of sunset. What I found was that to get a decent shot of the colour of the water during a red tide I needed to be out in the stark sunshine of midday 🙁 I also found out that with the colour of the water being so dark the reflections where phenomenal! I love the fact that the rocks in this shot seem to be hanging in the sky!
Have an amazing week.
