Autumn in London

London is a magical city. A senior pastor at a church I used to attend there calls it the greatest city in the world. While I think that’s stretching things a bit, it truly is a marvelous place. There is so much to see and do that although I lived in London for more than two years I have a lot more exploring that I would like to do. We are planning a couple of days there in September on our way to the States and maybe we can cover a little more ground then.

On to today’s photo…I remember taking this shot so clearly. It was a Saturday morning a couple weeks after I had purchased my first SLR. It was a Pentax with a kit lens. At that point in time I really didn’t know much about photography. My Grandpa’s Zeiss Ikon had died on me and I therefore had gone through a lull in interest. My purchase of my Pentax marked a renaissance for me and I really started enjoying taking photos again. As I headed towards the tube station I realised that there were all these beautiful autumn colours in the maple leaves just strewn across the pavement. Looking around I found this well-weathered garden gate perfect for a textured background. I placed the leaf and snapped the shot. I think that I used my external flash but can’t be sure. Wait didn’t I start this paragraph by saying that I remember taking this shot so well? 🙂
